Community Impact

With the support of our community and generous sponsors, we were able to purchase each of our four local hospitals (St Francis Medical Center, Glenwood Regional Medical Center, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Monroe Medical Center, and Morehouse General Hospital) Caring Cradles which will give future grieving families more time with their babies after they pass away. In 2022, we were blessed to be able to donate another cradle to the Minden Medical Center.

With the support of our community and generous sponsors, we were able to donate specialized pregnancy and infant loss bereavement training courses led by Rachel’s Gift. The Atlanta based nonprofit visited each of our local hospitals (and the Women’s Clinic) and the courses were made available to all medical professionals and support staff who work in Emergency Medicine, Labor and Delivery, Pediatrics, and the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care settings. Most medical professionals receive little to no education or formal training in bereavement care, as it pertains to pregnancy and infant loss, and as a result, they are often placed in situations they are uncomfortable with. This not only increases stress for the medical professional, but it also negatively impacts the family’s already painful hospital or clinic experience. This highly specialized training gave our medical professionals the tools they needed to confidently care for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss in a variety of situations.

Our funding raising goal for the 2024 Angels Gala is to raise $300,000 in order to build a revolutionary new Bereavement Suite at St. Francis Medical Center. There are only a handful of these suites available in the country and we look forward to have to opportunity to bring this level of specialized care to North Louisiana!
